UKKubb 2018 will take place on July 7th 2018 at the New Inn Farmborough. Early registration, for subscribers to the newsletter, has been open for a month but we still have a few spaces left.

Ben Potter, Phil Styles and Steve Johnstone came out winners against the Bombay Bicycle Kubb in a very hard fought and close final on the championship bracket. Well done guys!

With just three weeks to go, this year’s UK Kubb is set to be the biggest ever - possibly the largest Kubb gathering the UK has seen! We've expanded beyond the original 40-team limit to welcome everyone who registered.

In response to feedback from last year, we’ve updated the tournament format to feature fixed-time games - designed to keep things running smoothly, avoid repeat matchups, and still give teams a shot at winning even after a loss. We think it’s a big step forward!

After listening to player feedback, the 2017 UKKubb Championship is returning to the much-loved New Inn in Farmborough on 8th July. The pub has been a fantastic host in past years, and we can’t wait to be back—so mark your calendars and get practicing!

Identikubb were crowned 2016 UK Kubb Champions after an unstoppable run of victories, including a perfect game to start the day. Bouncing back from last year’s semi-final exit, their sharp play and preparation paid off - earning them the honour of being the first team engraved on the new trophy.

Just a quick post to say that after talking to the registered teams, we will be bringing the start of the 2016 Championship forward a couple of hours to 12 noon on 9th July 2016.

We’ve finally completed our handmade Kings, based on the classic crown shape from the UK Kubb logo. They match our kubbs and batons beautifully. Ten traditional-style Kings now ready for action.

A chance encounter on a holiday in Cornwall sparked my love for Kubb - after spotting a family playing a curious wooden game, a quick Google search led me to discover its name. From that moment on, I was hooked. That one random moment has led to years of joy, dozens of new players, and a deep involvement in growing this brilliant, once-niche game in the UK.

After settling on Championship-standard sizes, I set out to build my own Kubb set - despite limited tools, experience, or even wood. A budget pine prototype proved promising in shape and weight but marked easily, confirming it wasn’t the long-term answer. Over the winter, I upgraded to Poplar (aka Tulipwood)…

We are delighted to  confirm the date of the 2016 UK Kubb Championship. We'll be gathering once again at the New Inn in Farmborough on Saturday 9th July 2016.

The inaugural Hampshire Open took place on a sun-drenched October morning at Royal Victoria Country Park, with 10 teams battling it out in a friendly Swiss Ladder tournament. Glenn and Harvey - “The Gaz Watkins Allstars” - claimed the Cup, while newcomers “The Gems” took home the Plate. A fantastic day of Kubb, tea, cake, and community spirit!

If you’ve only played Kubb a few times, you might assume all sets are the same, but they vary more than you’d think. While most UK sets feature 55mm kubbs and 30mm batons, official tournament standards - like those from the World and U.S. Championships - specify much larger sizes: 70x70mm kubbs and 44mm batons. So if your Amazon set feels a bit lightweight, now you know why!

The U.S. National Kubb Championship, held each year in Eau Claire, Wisconsin since 2007, has grown from 15 teams to over 100, making it the second largest Kubb tournament in the world. Held this year on 11–12 July, with a dedicated Kid’s tournament beforehand, the event welcomes players of all ages and abilities - though make no mistake, the top-level competition is fierce!

The 2015 UK Kubb Championship took place on 11th July at the New Inn, Farnborough, with 32 teams and over 70 players enjoying a sunny day of competition.

The first Specsavers Forum6 Kubb tournament took place in September 2013 at the Whiteley office in Hampshire, sparked by a chance conversation and a shared love of niche games. Starting with just one experienced player, a small group quickly grew into a competitive bunch, hooked by Kubb’s mix of simplicity and strategy.

After six years of running the tournament, I’ve clearly mastered the art of picking the UK’s dampest Saturday - but as always, our die-hard Kubb players showed up undeterred. Alongside returning regulars, we welcomed new faces from North Bristol and beyond (plus a tiny dog of questionable breed but impeccable manners). Rain or shine, the Kubb spirit never wavers!

So here we are again -another fantastic afternoon of Kubb, and the fifth time I’ve had the pleasure (and challenge) of summing it all up. What began back in May 2007 with a soggy gathering at the Station Inn has grown into an international event, with players coming from far and wide. Bristol, Liverpool, London… even Germany.
